Frequently asked questions

For pet owners

Is donating blood safe for my pet?

Yes. It's a routine, low-risk procedure done by a vet, who examines your pet first and stops if anything isn't right. A healthy adult dog can donate safely.

Does it hurt? What actually happens?

Your pet visits a clinic, a vet checks them over, and a small amount of blood is drawn from the neck — it takes a few minutes, and most pets tolerate it well with lots of fuss and treats. If your pet is stressed or unwilling, the vet stops.

How often will I be contacted?

Rarely, and only when a pet genuinely needs blood. We spread requests across everyone registered so no one gets called repeatedly.

Do I have to say yes every time?

No. Every request is yours to accept or decline. Registering commits you to nothing.

Do I need to know my pet's blood type?

No. The clinic handles blood typing and cross-matching at the time of donation.

Who can see my phone number?

Only verified clinics, and only when they request it for a specific patient in need. It's never shown publicly or in search results, and every access is logged. (See our Privacy Policy.)
