PetAasha is building it: a network of healthy pets whose owners are willing to help, so that when an animal needs blood in an emergency, a nearby match can be found fast.

Is it safe for my pet?
This is the first thing every owner asks, and it's the right question. Donating blood is a routine, low-risk procedure done by a qualified vet — similar to a person giving blood. A healthy dog can give safely, and the vet checks your pet over before anything happens.
A vet is always in charge.
The donation happens at a clinic, handled by a veterinarian who examines your pet first and stops if anything's not right.
Your pet's comfort comes first.
If your pet is anxious or unwilling on the day, that's the end of it — no pet is ever pushed to donate.
You're never obligated.
Registering doesn't commit you to anything. Every request is yours to accept or decline, every time.
Could your pet be a donor?
Most healthy adult dogs can. You don't need to know your pet's blood type — the registration form checks the basics and tells you where your pet stands. As a rough guide, donors are usually:
- Healthy and up to date on core vaccinations
- Aged between 1 and 10 years
- At least 20 kg in weight
- Free of tick-fever history, and not on long-term medication
We'll only call when a pet genuinely needs blood.
The reason older donor lists stopped working is simple: the same few owners got called over and over until they gave up. PetAasha is built to spread requests across everyone registered, so no one is bothered constantly. If we reach out, it's because a real animal needs help right now — never a mass alert, never spam.
Why we're building this.
In Mumbai, there is nowhere to store animal blood, and no organised way to find a donor. When a pet is bleeding out after an accident or fighting a disease, vets fall back on WhatsApp groups and word of mouth — and lose precious hours they don't have. We've seen animals die because a donor couldn't be found in time. PetAasha exists to change that, starting with one city and one clinic network, and growing from there.
Developed alongside Dr. Shreya Pandey, a practising Mumbai veterinary oncologist, with the welfare of every pet — donor and patient — at the centre.
